About Us

Origins

Marvin and Annie Mae Wilson started Wilson’s Garage in 1950. Marvin had served in WWII and was discharged as a motor pool sergeant in the US Army serving in Germany. He came home to a joyous and prosperous community. He started work at the Dodge place installing heaters and radios as optional equipment. He worked as a delivery driver as well as helping with pulpwood and helping his father on the farm.

The Garage was just a small wooden building the State used for a highway garage. Mr. Will Blackburn and his Father poured the floor of the building in 1918 in small sections. Part of the original floor is visible on the West Side of the building. The East Side of the building was the oil change and lubrication area. This is known as “the pit”. This area was the last to receive the cinderblock walls and roof in place today. Although the building looks the same as the late 50’s, inside there have been a large amount of changes. All electrical service and equipment have been upgraded to serve the modern automobile.

Tim Lasley began working with Mr. Wilson in 1975 and continued after school and on Saturdays until graduation from college at NCSU. Mr. Wilson wanted to retire, so in 1983 it became Wilson's Garage of Pfafftown, Inc.
Tim ran the business for the Wilsons until 1988. Tim and Roberta decided to purchase the business and all the equipment in 1988. Marvin and Annie Mae are the #2 parents to Tim and grandparents to the boys so it was like a father son transfer. The business philosophy has never wavered. Treat all customers like friends and never do less than your best!

The potbellied stove could tell a real story if it could talk. Community events have been discussed and planned while standing by the stove to warm. History is very important but so is innovation and modern technology. Wilson's Garage of Pfafftown, Inc. does its best to fit the modern automobile and old fashioned values into the repair process.
